About Us

Our Mission

In honor of Tommy, the Tommy Allmand Foundation has been established with a noble mission: to promote Texas 4-H shotgun sports for all youth participants through the award of scholarships. The Foundation aims to support and inspire young shooters by recognizing their talents and providing financial assistance for their future endeavors.  We are a 501 (C) (3) organization which is funded by strictly by donations. Board members include Richard Hodge – President, Ron Smothers – Vice President, Jae Thompson – Secretary, Carl Brown – Treasurer, Brent Falkenbury, Ansley Johnston and Jeff Hyde.

Tommy passed away on July 25, 2024. Tommy had a passion for shooting sports and for 34 years was a volunteer in the shooting community, especially through the 4-H program. He founded the Frio County 4-H Claybusters Shooting Sports Club in 1991 which is still producing award-winning local shooters. His efforts and commitment to the program earned him the prestigious Salute to Excellence Award for 25 years of volunteer work through 4-H programs. Tommy was also a recent inductee into the National Shooting Sports Hall of Fame for significant contributions to the involvement and development of youth shooters in sporting clays and the NSCA. In addition to his numerous accolades, Tommy was also the match director for the 4-H Shotgun State Games for over 20 years, showcasing his leadership and expertise in organizing and managing competitive events. His mastery in target setting was renowned, earning him the title of Master Target Setter for the TPWL Whizbang and responsibilities for setting targets at the National 4-H shoot in Nebraska. Furthermore, Tommy's dedication extended to being a founding member of the San Antonio Jr Shootout committee, where he played a pivotal role from its inception. In honor of Tommy's lifelong dedication and achievements, the Foundation was established to continue his legacy and support the youth he was so passionate about.

Scholarships

Each year, as the Foundation's financial capabilities allow, scholarships will be awarded to Texas 4-H State Shotgun Shooters. These scholarships are designed to alleviate the financial burden of higher education, whether that be at a university, trade school, first responder’s academy, or for those planning to enlist in any branch of the military.

The scholarships are strictly allocated for educational and training purposes, ensuring that recipients can pursue their dreams and contribute to society in meaningful ways. The Foundation stands as a testament to Tommy's legacy, fostering growth, dedication, and excellence in the youth community.
